Soaking up the Sun
20" x 16"
Oil on Canvas (framed)
$725
Oh spring, although we are anxiously awaiting your arrival, we are still loving this beautiful snow. While cross country skiing on the Cascade Fire Road, I stopped to catch my breath and saw this little jewel. In the silence of the moment, I marveled at the light hitting the snow laden branches of these new little pines. I painted the colors I saw – pinks, blues, corals, and purples, because snow is never just white.

Morning on the Bow
20" x 36"
Oil on Canvas (framed)
$1150
This is a scene from one of my favorite running routes, on a pathway beside the Bow River in Banff. The scene has contrast and movement, with the morning sunlight hitting the trees, under the backdrop of Sulphur Mountain. Both the brilliant blue water and the gentle sound of the flowing river made me stop and take a photo of this scene to take back to my art studio.
This moment is full of contrast and movement. I was inspired to paint this scene while running along the shores of the Bow River in Banff. The sunlight hitting the trees, foliage and water, along with the gentle sound of the flowing river made me stop and take a photo of this scene to take back to my art studio.

Dancing in the Sunlight
12" x 16"
Oil on Canvas (framed)
$540
One of my biggest joys is spending time outdoors in the winter. This little pathway in the snow is one of many I encounter on my skis. This area is particularly special to me as it’s off the beaten track, a path less traveled. I’ve used a contrast of warm light against cool shadows to create vibrancy and depth, highlighting the sunlight dancing across snow.

Sunshine State of Mind
10" x 20"
Oil on Canvas (framed)
$540
While bundled up and running in Calgary’s Sandy Beach, I was struck by how bright sunlight can warm the coldest of winter days. Painting warm reds against the cool blues makes a crisp painting, full of life. Getting out and making the most of our cold winters is all about having a Sunshine State of Mind.

The drive along the Vermillion Lakes just outside of the Banff townsite has always been a place for me to get away and be still. These series of shallow lakes are joined by marshland and little canals, a wealth of wildlife with marshland showcasing a rich mountain ecosystem. While many people gravitate to the views of the broader vista, I love climbing down into the small sections along the shoreline to get an up close and personal view of the ‘smaller stuff’.

The Bow River has always had a special place in my heart. While out for a walk one day, I was drawn to this spot. The brilliant sunlight dancing across the snow and the warm reflections against the cool turquoise blues stopped me in my tracks. In the scheme of things it’s a common sight when walking along the river, but this day it served as a reminder for me to stop and appreciate the simple things in life.

Driving through the countryside in the Fall, this scene is familiar and comforting. This time of year is always special for me as I am reminded how fortunate we are to be living in a land of plenty. Harvesting and storing food for our long, dark winters is a sacred routine that goes on despite the precarious state of our world. Let’s celebrate our Canadian farming community for enduring what nature throws at them, to put food on our tables. Thank you!
